Just an FYI. We’ve been receiving notices from a lot of our hardware vendors indicating the below:
After days of public hearings held by the US Trade Representative from
August 20 to August 24, the USTR has finalized tariffs on $200 billion
of Chinese Imports.
1. Tariffs will be effective starting September 24, 2018 and initially will be in the amount of 10 percent.
2. Starting January 1, 2019, the level of the additional tariffs will be increased to 25 percent.
Since most of our electronics are manufactured and shipped from China,
this will affect the pricing on virtually all computer hardware. We
have already noticed an increase in prices across the board, as well as
shortages due to supply and demand. So long story short, if you
require or expect to need new computer/network equipment, please expect
higher than normal prices as well as much longer lead times for
delivery.
Unfortunate and sadly this is due to outsourcing and
theft of our intellectual property and loss of manufacturing to foreign
entities to the detriment of the US economy.
